In May 2008, Mr. Selfish and I visited our good friend Becca in Chicago. Becca had been raving about Chicago, and we decided to take her up on her offer to let us crash at her apartment. This was my first trip to Chi-Town, and I found it to be quite charming.
First, we went to Millenium Park, which actually was opened in 2004 (only four years behind schedule). I love taking pictures in front of the Cloud Gate, which is better known as the “Bean.” Also, Crown Fountain is nice because it’s fun to watch all the kids splashing around in the water and their parents trying not to get wet.
I also enjoyed Lincoln Park Zoo, which is entirely free.
Becca also took us on an architecture boat tour, which was quite interesting and affords great views of the city.
Of course, we had some amazing food while in Chicago. The hot dogs at Wieners Circle were phenomenal, and the deep dish pizza at Geno’s was no joke. More surprisingly, we also had pretty good Ethiopian food.
Mr. Selfish loved it so much that we actually went back to Chi-Town for his 30th birthday. We relived a lot of our favorites from this 2008 trip and ate even more hot dogs and pizza.
